This Week’s Q&A From Doctor’s Express

What is the best treatment for tendonitis?

The best treatment for tendinitis is to rest the injured area.  Heat to the area sometimes helps as does ice, and taking medication like Ibuprofen helps to reduce the swelling.

2.    Are aspirin and Panadol safe in pregnancy?

Aspirin is NOT recommended in pregnancy (neither is Ibuprofen).  Acetominophen (Tylenol) is safe, as long as you don’t take more than the recommended dosage.

3.    How long do torn ligaments take to heal?

Torn ligaments can take up to 8 weeks to heal.
